The American Water Spaniel is an active, alert, responsive, outgoing, enthusiastic and sensitive.
American Water Spaniels are not very common, but they make enthusiastic, active pets. Finding an outlet for their energy is essential, as is socializing them with other dogs and children.
Originally bred for flushing and retrieving waterfowl.
This active and playful spaniel loves to swim.

Active, experienced families who enjoy energetic walks, playing and training, and who can provide plenty of early socialization with other dogs.
Lack of exercise may lead to boisterousness, destructiveness and other behaviour problems. Has a tendency to jump up, and is occasionally possessive over food and toys.
