Origin: British Isles
Colour: Sable and white, tricolour, blue merle with white collar, full or part, white shirt, legs and feet, white tail tip
Lifespan: 12 to 13 years
The Collie is affectionate and gentle, would make a good family pet.
Sensitive and aloof, the Rough Collie is well known thanks to the 'Lassie' films. Gentle, affectionate and responsive to owners, this heavily coated breed is quite difficult to socialize well and tends to be reserved with strangers and concerned about anything new.
Originally bred to herd sheep.
This playful collie likes to chase.

Unfamiliar Dogs: reserved or indifferent
Gentle, sensitive owner who will enjoy the daily grooming sessions and the close bond.
May be wary of strangers, and some dogs may have noise phobias.
Daily coat care is required to ensure this breed remains tangle-free. Its profuse coat can lead to overheating in summer, when special care must be taken to keep it cool.
