Owner's Guide
As a puppy, the Cocker Spaniel is a cute bundle of fluff and many owners do not expect the wilful nature that appears later. Happy, exuberant and full of energy, they need plenty of exercise, together with strong-willed, active owners.
Originally bred for flushing and retrieving small game.
Special Characteristics
Energetic and playful, the Cocker Spaniel is interested in scents and independent when outside.

High. Needs energetic walks as well as play sessions.

Potential Problems
May display status-related aggression, particularly prevalent in dogs of solid colours. Possessive aggression is also common.
The feathery coat will carry in mud and dirt from outside. The coat and long hairy ears require daily care to keep them in good healthy condition.
