Bred to hunt in packs, foxhounds are happiest with constant company. Large and eager, they investigate everything and anything, often at the expense of household furnishings. Their energy and stamina is more than the average pet owner needs and wants and exercising these active, independent hunters can be difficult. American Foxhounds are taller and lighter-boned than English Foxhounds.
Originally bred to hunt foxes in a pack with huntsmen on horseback.
Special characteristics
Active and very inquisitive, the Foxhound is also interested in scents.
