German Shepherd Dog is an attentive, alert, steady, loyal, self-assured, sensitive and responsive dog breed.
Owner's Guide
The ubiquitous German Shepherd Dog is a versatile breed, chosen to be police dogs, guide dogs and guard dogs around the world. Loyal and protective, these dogs are alert, reactive and have abundant energy, but need early socialization to prevent them being wary of strangers and other dogs.
Originally bred to herd sheep.

Potential Problems
May display aggression to strangers and other dogs. This is particularly a problem with white-coated German Shepherds. May chase things it should not.
Considerable brushing is needed to remove dead hair. An owner should be prepared for loose hair around the house.
