Owner's Guide

German Spitz come in the Klein (Toy) and Mittel (Standard) varieties (there is also a giant variety too). All are feisty, and reactive. Their profuse coat requires daily care and they may be intolerant of this unless handled carefully. Potentially problematic with strangers and other dogs, they make good watchdogs.

Originally bred: to work on farms, then as a companion.

Potential problems
May bark excessively.

The long coat will bring in mud and dirt from outside and needs daily grooming to prevent mats from forming.
