Lively, gentle and sweet-natured Maltese look very much like toys with their snow white hair tied up with a ribbon on top of their heads. They are happy and friendly to all, and affectionate and devoted to owners. Daily grooming of the coat is essential.

The long, silky hair will bring in mud and dirt from outside, and the coat needs daily grooming or regular clipping to prevent mats from forming.
The hair on the head of the Maltese needs to be tied up out of the eyes.
