Owner's Guide
Schipperkes are loyal and affectionate to owners, but wary of strangers. Their love of barking makes them excellent watchdogs, but this trait needs to be controlled if it not to become excessive. Alert, busy and inquisitive, they need plenty of socialization with other dogs to remain tolerant.
Originally bred as a watchdog on barges, later as a companion.
