Fox terriers are quick, alert, curious and active. They are good watchdogs and need plenty to do to stop them from getting into mischief. Affectionate, but independent with owners, these extrovert dogs are usually friendly with strangers, but careful socialization is needed to ensure they are tolerant of other dogs. Care is needed with small pets as their desire to hunt and kill small prey is strong.
Originally bred to hunt foxes, and hunt and kill rabbits and rats.
The Fox Terrier is alert and easily aroused, with a hard bite.
