Cats act so much like the rich and famous that it is not surprising that so many celebrities have taken a liking to them over the ages. Ever since mankind has domesticated this lovable animal, singers, authors, movie stars and other big names have enjoyed their company and have even been inspired by them! Below is a list of some of the most famous people ever to have walked the earth along with a feline companion.
- Robert De Niro: Being a fan of cats in the movie, Meet the Parents, must have come naturally to this award-winning actor as he has a total of seven cats waiting for him at home. On top of that, he once got into trouble at The Beverly Hills Hotel because he snuck four cats in against their no-animal policies.
- Halle Berry: This actress actually adopted a cat temporarily so that she could learn more about them for her role in the film, Catwoman. Afterwards, she fell in love with the cat so much that she decided to keep it and give it a more permanent home.
- Elizabeth Taylor: Owned three cats, this famous actress once gave one as a present to her boyfriend at the time, James Dean. Ironically, he later gave the cat to his new girlfriend and was killed in a car crash soon afterwards.
- Cameron Diaz: Owning a fashionable feline named Little Man, this gorgeous movie star has been spotted out shopping for new outfits for her cat, obviously wanting him to follow in her ever-so-stylish footsteps.
- John Lennon: This Beatles legend was never without his cats. As a boy, he cycled to the local fishmongers to purchase tasty treats for his furry friend. While living with his first wife, Cynthia, the loving couple had ten cats. This number was reduced to two when he was married to Yoko.
- Sir Isaac Newton: Going back a few centuries now, this famous scientist loved cats so much that he actually invented the cat flap so that his pets could wander in and out freely. This surely overtakes gravity and the fundamental laws of physics as his greatest creation.
- Charles Dickens: When his cat gave birth to a litter of kittens, this world-renowned author was determined to give them away. In the end, he fell in love with one bundle of fur and kept it. Named Master's Cat, it would keep him company while he wrote in his study.
- Frédéric Chopin: This classical composer created one of his most famous pieces, The Cat Waltz, after his feline friend scampered across his piano. He was so enamoured with the tune that he put it to paper immediately.
