The Discover Dogs extravaganza at Earls Court is to take place on the weekend of November 12-13. The event, organised by the Kennel Club and sponsored by Royal Canin, is aimed at those who enjoy dogs of all kinds. This celebration of everyday dogs is a world away from the seriousness of Crufts.
Discover Dogs offers your animal the chance to be a star, by entering the Best Dog or Bitch in the Companion Dog Club Competition. This is open to all dogs, pure breeds or crossbreeds. The competition is open only to members of the Kennel Club's Companion Dog Club. The club is for anyone who loves dogs, regardless of their breed. Owners who register will receive a membership pack and access to lots of online resources. Every dog lover thinks that their pet is special, and the club is the ideal way to celebrate them, as well as sharing information and photos with others. There is still time to join the club before Discover Dogs weekend, at just £13. Classes include Prettiest and Most Handsome Crossbreed and Waggiest Tail.
The event also sees the final of Scruffts, a fun contest to find the country's favourite crossbreed. Visitors will see winners announced in the categories for Most Handsome Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Child's Best Friend (for handlers aged between 6-16 years) and Golden Oldie, for dogs over eight.
Discover Dogs promises to offer a hugely entertaining and informative experience for all visitors. Breed rescue centres will be on hand to speak about their work, along with other canine and animal welfare centres.
As well as the scruffs, more than 200 pedigree breeds will be attending, for visitors to meet and have their questions answered by knowledgeable breeders. There will be plenty of shopping opportunities for doggy treats, clothing, bedding and accessories, plus guest speakers and plenty of advice available from experts.
