Top 10 Pet Fads
There are so many pet crazes about at the moment, that we thought it prudent to compile a list of our favourite 10. Let us know what floats your pet boat?...
Gone are the days when going away on holiday meant leaving Fido in boring, impersonal kennels. Now there are dog nannies all over the country that will look after man's best friend in the comfort of his own home, walking, feeding and playing with him while his owner is away, whether it is during a two week summer holiday or while you are at work Monday through Friday!
Dogs in bags
Over the past ten years, fashions have come and gone, but there was one accessory that no IT girl wanted to be seen without and that was her pampered, petite pooch carried around in his very own tote. This trend wasn't for those without a big budget - the better the bag, the bigger the style statement with A-list fashionistas carrying their pups around in bags by Juicy Couture and Burberry.
Dogs AS bags
As if carrying your small dog around in his own designer tote bag wasn't quite cute enough, a micro trend suddenly caught on for elaborate harnesses that allowed owners to carry around their pup as if they actually WERE a handbag! Obviously only for very tiny pups, or owners with particularly good arm muscles!
Pretentious Pet Names
Not content with Fido, Rex or Fluffy people can get pretty carried away when trying to find a unique pet name. Some of the most pretentious include: Napoleon Boneapart, Princess Pep, Talullah Bighead and Megabyte. One word of warning: before picking a crazy pet name, picture yourself shouting it in public to call back your pretentious pet!
Say goodbye to cages and concrete runs at standard boarding kennels, dogs have plenty of options to go on their very own special holiday while their owners are away. Dog hotels are luxurious and designed to cater for all types of dogs, offering a range of comfy beds, private rooms complete with sofas and TV, and plenty of play activities. Your dog may not want to come home!
Pets in Weddings
If your pet is an important part of your family, you won't be alone if you want him to take part in your big day. There are tuxedos available for your doggy best man, and ring pillows that can be strapped to your cat or dog to allow them to play a special role in your nuptials.
Treat your pet to a pedicure, a facial, a therapeutic massage or beauty treatments such as teeth whitening or hair lightening at a full service pet spa. Grooming, pampering and all round care for your pet are available at dedicated pet spas and for that extra special finishing touch, some spas even offer a final spray of glitter to make sure your pet really sparkles!
Whether you are looking for pet clothes for fashion or function, there is a huge range of sweaters, coats, hats and other accessories available to keep your pet warm, dry and looking fabulous!
Over the years, it seems celebrities have tried to out do each other in the crazy pet stakes. Sadly, many misguided members of the public joined in and animal welfare organizations have been kept busy rescuing and rehabilitating "exotic pets" such as tigers, alligators and even kangaroos!
Why should dogs get all the fun when it comes to exploring the neighbourhood? Cats are often just as happy to go for a stroll with their owners as dogs. If your cat doesn't do well on a leash, don't fret! There are many portable pet strollers available now that will let you and your pet enjoy some quality exercise time together.
