High Profile Pets for High Profile People.
In the animal and celebrity world, there have been many famous partnerships. However, there have also been very high profile owners, from royalty to household name pop stars, politicians to actors. Of course, owning a pet can be quite time consuming but these high profile people below seem to have cracked it!
The Queen is famous for her love of Welsh Pembroke Corgis and currently owns four of them, (Monty, Willow, Holly and Linnet). Over the years she has owned over 30 of them since having one (called Susan) for her 18th birthday in 1944. The Queen has always bred her own Corgis but has now decided that the time has come to give up.
No 10 Downing Street - After the retirement of previous cats, Humphrey and Sybil, the last cat to reside in at No 10 belonging to a former resident, PM David Cameron and his family have since given a good home to Larry the tabby. Larry, who is said to be a stray off the streets of London, came from Battersea Dogs Home and is said to be an excellent rat catcher! There has been a Downing Street cat for many years with many famous residents over the decades. Given the title of 'Chief Mouser to the Cabinet', the Downing Street cat has to live up to his reputation and it seems that Larry is keen to follow in the footsteps of his famous predecessors.
The first dog in the US is called Bo and is the pet dog of the Obama family. Bo, a Portuguese water dog, was given to the Obama girls as a gift when their dad made it the White House. Bo is reputed to be the most photographed dog in the world at the moment.
So, who of our famous celebrities are pet owners? It seems that most of them love to own a dog!
Elton John loves Cocker Spaniels and his favourite, Arthur, was best man at his civil partnership ceremony to David Furnish. Max, Marilyn and Isabella are also resident Cockers in the John/Furnish household.
Cheryl Cole has two Chihuahuas called Coco and Buster. David and Victoria Beckham also have a dog called Coco, but a bit bigger as Coco is a French Bulldog! The latest addition to their family is another French Bulldog called Scarlet.
When it comes to cats, no celebrity cat owner could be more well known that Brigitte Bardot who is reported to have 60 of them!
